Viola Heritage House Museum Awards Program
Scholarship Description:
The Viola Heritage House Museum Awards Program aims to encourage and support African American high school and college students who are passionate about museum-related studies. The program offers scholarships of up to $1,200 to eligible students who have shown exceptional academic performance and a strong commitment to pursuing a career in museum studies. The program also provides training opportunities to help students develop their skills.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be high school or college students currently enrolled in a museum-related academic program or pursuing relevant coursework.
Preference will be given to African American students, although students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic record and a genuine interest in museum studies.
Applicants must be willing to commit to completing work-study hours at the Viola Heritage House Museum or other cultural institutions as part of their scholarship requirements.
Scholarship Benefits:
Selected recipients will receive a scholarship award of up to $1,200 to support their educational expenses. In addition to the financial assistance, recipients will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience through work-study hours at the Viola Heritage House Museum or other affiliated cultural institutions. This experience will provide students with practical skills and insights into museum operations, preparing them for entry-level positions in the field.
Application Process:
Interested students must complete the online application form available on the Viola Heritage House Museum website.
Along with the application form, applicants must submit a current resume, academic transcripts, and a personal statement outlining their academic achievements, career goals in museum studies, and why they believe they deserve the scholarship.
Applicants may also be required to provide letters of recommendation from academic advisors, professors, or professionals in the field of museum studies.
Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of representatives from the Viola Heritage House Museum and other relevant stakeholders. Selection criteria will include academic achievement, demonstrated interest in museum studies, potential for contribution to the field, and financial need. Finalists may be invited for an interview as part of the selection process.
Scholarship Disbursement:
Scholarship awards will be disbursed directly to the educational institution to cover tuition, fees, and other related expenses. Recipients will also receive information regarding their work-study assignments and responsibilities.

The deadline for submitting scholarship applications WILL BE ANNOUNCE IN THE FALL of 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
